Trouw Nutrition enters joint venture in Turkey

Nutreco’s subsidiary Trouw Nutrition International (TNI) has announced the acquisition of a 51% share in the animal nutrition activities of Interkim in Turkey.

The activities will be continued in a new joint venture named Trouw Nutrition Turkey. The investment figure has not been disclosed.

With this joint venture, TNI becomes the number two player in premix and feed ingredients in the Turkish Republic. The company has annual sales of approximately €13 million in feed ingredients, industrial premixes, young animal feeds and animal health products.

The animal nutrition market in Turkey shows large growth potential and TNI wants to capitalise on that by acquiring a majority share in the activities of Interkim. TNI’s partner has had a presence in Turkey since 1997 and is one of the major importers of animal nutrition products and premix-producers in this country.

According to the company, this new step fits within the framework of Nutreco’s ‘Rebalancing for Growth’ strategy, which aims to expand the company’s animal nutrition and fish feed businesses in growth markets.
