A-Rehu increase feed production to meet growing demand

Finnish feed manufacturers A-Rehu have increased the number of shifts a day to three at its feed mill, meaning the plant is now operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The company has also stated plans of investing in the plant in the coming winter.

Feed mill production manager, Panu Huikku, said that production volumes had grown steadily in Varkaus and that the change was necessary to allow full capacity at the plant to be available.

The increased volume will allow A-Rehu to expand the amount of cattle feed they are able to supply to the growing market in Eastern Finland.

The company plans a multi million-euro investment buliding 6 new product silos. This is expected to boost the plant's capacity by about 50 million kg per annum.

Huikku said that the construction schedule was still yet to be determined, but that the silos must be completed by January-February next year.

Calculations and preliminary designs have been completed, which would see production doubling to around 100 million kg.

A-Rehu a subsidiary of Finnish food and agriculture company Atria, has been making cattle feed in their Varkaus feed mill since 2007.
