 New feed mill launched aimed at rural development

A new feed mill was launched in Plateau State last week by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development under its Fadama III Project. The feed mill was built for the Fadama User Group (FUG) known as "Another Life Women in Agriculture (ALWA)".

The Fadama III Project was setup in order to increase the incomes of users of rural land and water resources on a sustainable basis.

The feed mill plant project was bult at a cost of N423,500, and had a production capacity of 20 tonnes of feed per day.

The feed mill is able to produce a wide range of feeds including poultry, pig, fish and dog feed.

The program coordinator, Gideon Dandam said "The feed mill will not only enrich the women financially, but will also help other poultry or livestock farmers in accessing feeds at their door step. Also, it will generate employment opportunities in the community."

ALWA Leader, Patricia Azi thanked the Fadama III programme and the entire project team for making their dream a reality. The group commented that the programme is positively affecting lives, in particular the young ones in the community by providing employment opportunities.

The feed mill was said to benefit the community the community with training, technical services and advises supplied by the Fadama programme.
