Kursk Oblast feed industry expects strong growth

There are 5 new compound feed plants planned for construction in 2013, in Kursk an Eastern state in Russia.

Official reports state that the new enterprises will have an output of 500,000 ton per annum, helping to boost the region's animal feed production capcity from its current'capcity of 700,000 ton up to around 1,200,000 ton before the end of the year.

The first of the feed mills is already in operation, located in Sudzhansky with a production capacity of 20,000 ton per annum. The feed mill was commissioned by Sudzha-Agroinvest, a local livestock company. RUB 146 million ($4.5 million USD) was invested in the project.

A press release for the opening stated, "The feed mill is fully automated, which is very important in terms of reaching the planning production indicators. In addition, the plant will operate only on its own resources base, including soy, corn and other feed production ingredients."

The Kursk region is presently looked at as one of the quickest growing areas of Russia for feed production levels. Only 350,000 tons of compound feed was produced in the area in 2011, while this number is expected to quadruple to around 1.3-1.4 million ton by the year 2016. For the previous two years, the amount invested in the building of new compound feed production facilities in the region exceeded RUB 1.5 billion ($ 50 million USD).
