Continentale Nutrition invests in EUR 8 million upgrade

French pet feed manufacturer, Continentale Nutrition have invested EUR 8 million in the upgrade of its one of its two sites located in Boulogne-sur-Mer, Pas-de-Calais. The feed plant of Marengo 2, located on the port of Capecure area had an investment of EUR 8 million programme taken out.

Launched by the new shareholder, Alandia, this program will oversee an entire overhaul of the entire computer system, and the implementation of automation for the production of the animal feed.

"Automation allows us to increase capacity and to recover the costs of competitive returns compared to those of our competitors," ensures Nouvier Francis. "We're back into the German market, European market for pet food, that the company had lost. Our customers are now reassured: they know that Continental will live."

Feed production at the plant before the upgrade had been manual, and with the upgrade production capacity is to increase by 15% per day, or 370 pouches of feed per minute.

This modernisation of its pet feed plant, explained Continental Nutrition's nutrition branch, will allow removal of heavy and handling repetitive tasks for the feed mill operators.

The main aim of this investment is to reduce cost and improves product quality, allowing the company to improve competitiveness against the competition.

In 2014 Continentale Nutrition had a turnover of EUR 100 million. The company, based in Boulogne-sur-Mer, today employs 357 people. Continentale Nutrition exports 70% of its production in Europe (mainly to neighbouring countries).
