Wenger's Feed Mill Inc. is preparing to buy the poultry feed mill from Pennfield Corp. in West Hempfield Township, in Philadelphia.

Pennfield stated that the planned sale would enforce its strategy to center on dairy and related animal sectors of the feed industry.

"This sale will provide the local poultry industry with continued excellent resources and, at the same time, allows us to focus on new areas of growth in its core business." CEO of Pennfield, Arnie Sumner said.

Pennfield Corp., which has sites in Mt Joy, Martinsburg and South Montrose, Pa., is a 93-year old manufacturer of poultry, dairy and companion animal feeds, and has a sales area encompassing several states in the Eastern USA.

The buyer Wenger Feeds is a leading manufacturer and supplier of poultry and swine feed, feed ingredients and allied services in the Mid-Atlantic region. Owner and chairman of the board of Wenger Feeds, Barry Shaw, had the following comments on the acquisition, "We feel this acquisition is a natural fit as we look strategically towards our future."

The closing date for deal has not been finalised; however, a liquid, ordered transition is anticipated for all employees, buyers and suppliers involved, the released stated stated.
