Agribrands Purina Canada open horse feed mill

Agribrands Purina Canada, a Cargill Inc. company, on the 23rd of October opened their new state-of-the-art horse feed mill production facility in Strathroy, Ontario, Canada.

The facility will produce Purina branded equine feed and supplements, as well as cat and dog food under the Loyall brand. Cargill have invested greater than USD$11 million into the construction of the feed plant's construction and feed equipment to ensure the company remains a leader in quality and safety of equine nutrition products.

At the opening of the feed mill, close to 300 attendees from Quebec and Ontario gathered at the site to participate in the activities organized by the Agribrands Purina Canada team. In addition to Purina distributors and associate dealers, guests included many partners and professionals from the equine industry, as well as numerous long-time customers who are true horse lovers.

The opening comprised of a guided tour of the different sections of the feed mill, providing a better understanding of the steps involved in the production of horse feed. Director of nutrition at Agribrands Purina Canada, Dr. Bruno Marty, concluded the tour of the facilities with a presentation that connected the different technologies used at the plant and their positive impact on equine health and well-being.

In the course of the day, Canadian show jumping legend Ian Millar expressed his appreciation for the Agribrands Purina Canada team of experts, as well as for the Purina feeds and supplements which he serves to his own horses daily.

"This major investment marks an important step for our company, as it leaves us better prepared to meet the ever-increasing demands of our clients in terms of the quality and safety of the feeds they choose for their horses," said Charles Lapointe, president and managing director of Agribrands Purina Canada. "The grand opening of our specialized plant is a crucial step towards establishing ourselves as the leader in equine feed quality and safety. This ties in perfectly with our constant efforts to offer our customers unique Purina feeds that are of the highest possible quality."
