Feed Plant Manager - Edmonton, AB, Canada
The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion dollar organization based on the fundamental principles of co-operation. It is comprised of a network of approximately 235 autonomous retail co-operatives across Western Canada along with their branch operations, and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). FCL is the wholesaling/manufacturing arm of the CRS, which provides the retail co-ops with a range of products and services. FCL invites applications for the position of Feed Plant Manager based out of our Regional office in Edmonton, AB.
Reporting into the Feed Director, the Feed Plant Manager is responsible for the following:
Direct and monitor the implementation and maintenance of our FeedAssure and quality control programs.
Responsible for ensuring all department and company safety programs are implemented and monitored.
Manage and maintain a feed plant front end computer files (AGRIS).
Direct purchasing activities to ensure adequate ingredients are available for manufacturing feed products within guidelines.
Develop annual sales, production expenses and the sales and administration budget.
Direct supervision of Feed Mill Supervisor and front end staff.
Work with Plant Supervisor to plan and develop capital expenditure requirements.
Evaluate and verify the department’s feed safety program to ensure compliance with OHS, COR and SMS.
Analyze monthly expense reports for the plant and follow up.
Responsible for talent management and development.
Applicants must hold a University degree in Agriculture or another related discipline. At a minimum 5-7 years experience in management, plant operations and production. Occupational Health and Safety and Enterprise Risk Management experience would be considered an asset for the position. Proven communication skills, both verbal and written, organizational skills and the ability to foster teamwork and collaboration are crucial for the role.
