De Heus opens expansion to its aquafeed mill

DeHeus LLC (Vietnam) yesterday announced the opening to the expansion to its aquafeed production facilities in Hoa Phu Industrial Zone, southern Vinh Long province, Vietnam.

The expansion of the feed mill, which was done at a cost of USD$8 million, has increase production capacity of the plant from 30,000 tonnes per annum up to 100,000 tonnes per annum.

The company hopes that the new expansion to the plant will help strengthen the position of De Heus in the aquafeed market. It will serve the fast growing aquaculture market in the Mekong Delta and produce feeds for pangasius, tilapia, snake head fish and fingerling.

General Director of De Heus, Gabor Fluit said "this enlargement of our aqua feed factory in Vinh Long shows our commitment for the aqua market in Vietnam in general and in the Mekong Delta in particular."

The aquafeed production facility in Vinh Long is fully ISO22000 compliant and has a GLOBALGAP certificate.

De Heus LLC (Vietnam) now has four production locations in Vietnam, with animal feed factories in Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Hai Phong in addition to the aquafeed factory in Vinh Long mentioned in this article.

By 2015, the company plan to inject an additional investment of USD$5 million and further increase the plant’s production capacity up to 200,000 tonnes per annum.

The Hoa Phu Industrial Zone in Vinh Long now is home to four aqua feed mill plants, which together have a total capacity of 5,000 tonnes per month.
