A director with the Ontario Cattlemen's Association - representing the Ontario Cattle Feeders - says higher feed costs will likely result in less money going to cow-calf producers.

Dale Pallister - who has a feedlot in Grey County - says when margins are thinner in finishing cattle - it will mean a lower price in the sales barn when refilling that lot.

Pallister says consumers will eventually feel the price of higher feed costs with nearly every product on the meat counter becoming more expensive.

Pallister says if that doesn't happen - we'll start to see a decline in the number of cattle being raised in Canada.
