MSM Milling begin work on pellet feed mill expansion

Construction began last week on a new pellet feed mill which is set to boost production at MSM Milling, a primarily oilseed processing company located in Manildra, NSW.

Once built the pellet feed mill will produce a protein and energy dense product that the company plans to export to livestock producers around the world.

The new mill will value add to its existing product range of oils and meals.

It took the company almost two years of planning and regulatory processes, before the Cabonne Shire Council approved MSM Milling's application for the construction of a container loading facility and grain silos for the new plant.

Ground breaking was conducted last weekm and excavation and prepartory civil works are currently being done on the site, located with their existing plant in Manildra, NSW.

Bob MacSmith, MSM Milling co-director, said "MSM Milling will value-add to the mill's existing meal and oil products and source local wheat and barley, as well as product from the Manildra Group's nearby flour mill to produce the pellets."

He continued to say "Like the existing milling operation, the new feed pellet mill will eventually operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, producing more than 100,000 tonnes of product each year."

The new container loading facility will allow the finsihed compound feed pellets to be transported via rail to port amd then to be exported to foreign markets.

MacSmith said he hoped the plant would be commissioned and operational within six months to offer extra markets for local farmers wanting to sell wheat and barley.
