Dutch company Agrifirm Group has acquired a 35% stake in Serbian animal feed producer Sto Posto and has plans to invest 35 million euro (USD$46.1 million) into the company in the next three years.
Sto Posto, operate a fully automated feed mill producing poultry, swine and livestock feed, close to the capital Belgrade. The feed mill was the first in Serbia to achieve JUS ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP standards.
Agrifirm Group, a cooperative of more than 17,000 Dutch farmers and horticulturalists, have decided to invest in Serbia because of the country's great potential in the agriculture sector, Agrifirm Group's CEO Ton Loman said.
At the same time, Agrifirm Group's unit, Nuscience Group has acquired a 51% stake in the Serbian premix producers Novi Mix. The acquisition of Novi Mix's modern factory will make Nuscience Group the only premix producer in Serbia.
CEO of Nuscience Group, Patrick Keereman spoke regarding the deal, "(it) fits our strategic plan for the coming years. Nuscience is growing globally and particularly wants to be present in interesting emerging markets. Our innovative knowledge of young animal feeds and health-stimulating feed concepts support the growth in sales of Novi Mix. The modern production facilities and the professional team of Novi Mix strengthen our position in Central Europe and the Balkan region."
