IFIF underlines commitment to animal health

The International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF) today underlined its commitment to supporting efforts by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) to strengthen animal health at the 82nd General Session of the World Assembly of OIE Delegates.

Speaking to the 900 delegates at the OIE Assembly, Alexandra de Athayde, IFIF Executive Director, said she believes that "cooperation between IFIF and OIE, in particular with regards to the prevention and management of infectious diseases, including zoonotic diseases, is vital and our cooperation should strengthen linkages between feed safety and food safety."

Ms. De Athayde added that "IFIF looks forward to continue to work with the OIE to contribute to improved animal health and productivity, which in the end leads to a positive contribution to public health, as well as to support the development, updating and implementation of OIE standards and guidelines."

Held from 25 to 30 May 2014, the World Assembly of OIE Delegates brings together representatives of 178 OIE Members and observers from international organisations, including IFIF, which has an official cooperation agreement with the OIE since 2012.
